Diamond Naturals Dog Food Review | Coupons, Ingredients and Our Rating

Uncompromised Quality and Performance, Naturally – That’s how Diamond Naturals intro starts on their website. Tagline sounds promising, but what’s the reality of this brand?

Some backstory- Diamond Naturals was not on my reviewing list, but my school bestie Janice brought one pack for me. It was pleasantly good, and Bruno actually loved his new meal. Once it got finished, I got another pack for him and I knew that I am gonna review this anyway.

I got the Diamond Naturals Dry Food which is specifically prepared for Adult Dogs. The 40-pound dog meal was packed with rice and beef – something that no canine can resist to. So, how well did the feeding went with Bruno? Know more about the brand, recall history and whether you should GO for it OR NOT?

[THE BEST PICK!] – Diamond Naturals Dry Food for Adult Dog

Diamond Naturals Dry Food for Adult Dog

Here the key ingredient is the pasture-based Real Beef which is specifically prepared for the adult dogs. It’s high on protein and offers a quality amount of amino acids that build up the lean muscle.

There are additional probiotics added in the recipe that gives optimal nutrition and better digestion support.

Other highlights of this Dry Adult Dog Food are given below:

Probiotic Technology

Each Diamond Naturals Dog Food recipe includes K9 Strain Probiotic, whereas the dry cat foods are enhanced with Viable Probiotics.

This amazing probiotic thing offers about 80 million of the CFU (Colony Forming Units) for each pound that in turn gives an easy digestion and also builds a better immune system.

The dry dog food comes with strong anti-oxidants and phytonutrients (obtained from superfoods like oranges, blueberries, carrots, spinach) that improves the immunity and promotes a better, healthy lifestyle.

Hairball Control

Something that was too unexpected for a pet food. Diamond Naturals include special insoluble fibers that help in preventing hairball condition.

DHA is added in all the Diamond Natural recipes for puppies, adult or even the senior dog food formula. The salmon oil gives the DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid), which is one form of Omega-3 fatty acid that is important for the development of brain and vision. This element is necessary to be fed at the right young age itself.

During the nursing period, puppies actually get the DHA from the mother’s milk.

Omega Fatty Acid

This fatty acid is provided from ingredients like chia seeds, coconut, flaxseed, and fish – for maintaining a healthy skin, shiny coat and improves the overall health of your pet.

Well, if your pooch is not able to digest the food properly then they simply won’t get the right nutrients out of it. Therefore, you need to make sure that your pet could break down the meals and it’s easy on the digestion.

The excellent blend of soluble and insoluble fibers mixed in this recipe maintains a happy, healthy digestion system.

Superfoods are those unique foods which have got an exceptionally high nutrient level. The ingredients like chia seeds, kale, blueberries, and pumpkin – are best sources of antioxidants, minerals, proteins, fatty acids, vitamins. When everything is mixed in one Dog Meal, you get the Superfood Quality.

Who Manufactures Diamond Naturals Dog Food?

Who Manufactures Diamond Naturals Dog Food

Diamond Naturals Dog and Cat Foods are prepared by the Diamond Naturals Inc., which is currently owned by Schell and Kampeter, Inc. It’s a USA based food firm whose manufacturing plants are located in Meta, Missouri. This family-owned business is still undertaken and taken care of by the Kampeter family.

Also to add, the company has got plants located in Lathrop, South Carolina, California, and Gaston.

Diamond Naturals was founded in the year 1970 when Gary Schell and Richard Kampeter purchased the Milling Meta Co. (producer of farm-based dog feeds). Slowly, and gradually they expanded the company and built the plants in California and Gaston in 1999 and 2002 respectively.

Diamond Naturals Dog Food Recall History

Yes, Diamond Naturals have a list of recalls that they had to face because of aflatoxins, the presence of Salmonella that was reported during the time period of 1999-2000.

A major Diamond Naturals recall was carried out in the year 2005, because of which many of the users and customers have actually lost the faith from the brand. Still, Diamond continues to produce better and improved dog foods and also co-packs the food for many brands including Canidae, Costco’s Kirkland, Tractor Supply’s 4Health, NutraGold, etc.

In April and May 2012, Diamond Naturals issued a voluntary recall on the products produced in their South Carolina plant. The reason for the recall was a reported Salmonella infection that probably hit all the dog food packs.

The brand recently confirmed with us that all their foods undergo 151 quality checks before they are taken out for selling.

Final Thoughts

It’s a mixed feeling right now, as the dog food really worked out for me, but still Diamond Naturals do have a major recall history too. However, the brand now takes care of each minute aspect during the production, and advanced quality checks are carried on each food sample before they are set for sale. I will still give it a 3.8 out of 5, but you need to be alert of the past recalls while using it for your pooch.
